The Southeastern Regional Association (SERA) of the National Speleological Society (NSS) is a regional organization made up of all the NSS organizations (caving grottos (clubs) and surveys) in the Southeastern portion of the United States of America. The SERA region includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The purpose of SERA is to further the aims of the NSS in the Southeast.

If you are interested in caving, contact your nearest caving organization to find out more information about caving. If you are in the Southeastern U.S., check out the SERA Organizations, otherwise, contact the the National Speleological Society. Please cave safely and responsibly - check out Cave Conservation, Cave Safety, and Closed Cave Lists. Local grottos (caving clubs) will be able to provide you with more information on caving technique and best practice.


2025 SERA Winter Business Meeting

Pigeon Mountain Grotto is hosting the SWBM at the Bank of LaFayette Community Room in Lafayette, GA on saturday, March 1, 2025, 10am - 1pm with banquet at 6pm.

Time: 10am - 1pm with a dinner banquet at 6pm (Eastern)

Dinner banquet will be a taco bar from 54-Catered Events. There will be coffee, pastries, and various breakfast items. Lunch will be on your own and there are multiple lunch options within easy walking distance

NOTICE: The SERA Cave Canival is back for 2025!

The 2025 SERA Cave Carnival will be hosted by the East Tennessee Grotto on the weekend of May 2-4, 2025. It will be held at East Fork Stables in Jamestown, Tennessee. This beautiful location offers luxury camping in level forested camp sites and hot showers. There are approximately 2000 caves within a 50 mile radius and over 70 miles of cave passage on the property, within the beautiful Obey river gorge!

The officers of the Committee shall be named a "Board of Directors" which include the positions of Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary/Treasurer.

 


 

White Nose Syndrome

White Nose Syndrome (WNS) is continuing to spread towards the SERA region. All are encourged to follow the caving moratoria in WNS-infected areas and to follow the decontamination guidelines. Stay up to date with all the latest information concerning White Nose Syndrome here.
